Goodbye November, Hello December
November has reached its end. And it was not an exciting month for me because I spent it sick. First with the stomach flu then a week later I caught the flu. But, between being sick, I did manage to paint the basement, two bedrooms, and the master bathroom. Originally for this month, I planned on tackling things on my home repair list. I did take care of a few things on my list but not as much as I planned. I didn’t cook a big Thanksgiving dinner either but I did do some shopping online. So here’s a quick rundown of my November.
Home Improvement
So the month started off with me getting the stomach flu. But once I got over the stomach flu I took advantage of a home improvement sale at Menards and picked up some paint and other supplies. And got to work on my home repair list. I decided to start with the basement then work my way upstairs. The basement is also the area with the most task on my list. So it was gonna take a while to finish.
It took me 3 days but I was able to complete one thing on my list and paint the basement. And I love the new color its a lot lighter than the previous color so the basement looks brighter. After I finished the basement I did some other task on my list and painted the other 3 rooms that needed a fresh coat of paint. But shortly after finishing the master bathroom I caught the flu.
The Flu & New Blogs
I’m pretty sure I picked up the flu from the gym so I think I’m going to take a break from the gym and workout at home. But after getting the flu I spent most of my time in bed and drinking tea. I haven’t had the flu in years and I forgot how awful and draining it is. But while I was sick I did find some new blogs. Here are some of the amazing blogs I checked while I was recovering from the flu.
Amazing Blogs & Bloggers
- Samantha at Trendy Sheep started blogging as a hobby and writes about her everyday life, and opinions.
- Courtney is an adventurer who blogs about her travels and fashion over at Little Brave Travels.
- Justine Laismith is an author who blogs about books, Chinese culture, and botanicals the things that inspire her stories.
- Hamad is a book lover and her blog The Book Prescription is all about books.
- Makeup With Frenchie is a beauty blog with makeup reviews and unboxing. She also has a YouTube channel worth checking out.
- Ash is a book blogger who reviews a variety of books over at Ink Trails.
- Elizabeth over at Fashion Arts by Elizabeth is a lover of art and fashion. She writes about her love of art and fashion and even posts some of her own art.

Some of these bloggers are new to blogging and I’m excited to follow along and watch as their blogs grow.
Black Friday Shopping
Over the years I’ve tried to get away from black Friday shopping. But I always end up looking at the ads and finding a good deal on something. This year was no different I replaced our vacuum that has been fallen apart. And got some new Tupperware since ours keeps disappearing. I also bought some TV mounts, an oil diffuser, and a couple of new video games. I took advantage of some of the Cyber Monday deals as well and picked up my tickets for Planet Comic-Con and Cirque Du Soleil Crystal.
Even though I try not to spend any money it was hard passing up the savings. But I did try to focus on getting things I needed or things that would be useful versus things that I wanted. Overall I think I did a pretty good job but next year I’m going to try to spend no money on sales. And to be successful I’m going to try really hard stay away from the ads and promotional emails. It’s something that won’t be easy since during the month on November they’re everywhere.
December Plans
My husband and I and have it arranged where we alternate between exchanging gifts. Last Christmas we exchanged gifts so this year is a no gift exchange year. But well still decorate the house for Christmas and enjoy Christmas music and movies. Since I didn’t cook a big Thanksgiving dinner this year since I was sick and I’m not sure if I’m going to do a Christmas dinner yet. But I do know I’m going to bake some cookies. For the month of December, I won’t be doing Blogmas but I will be doing some craft post that will make cool homemade Christmas gifts. So stay tuned to see what crafts I’ll be posting this month.
What are your plans this month? Let me know in the comment section below.
Sorry to hear you caught the flu twice during the month. We also spent some time painting in November and going general home improvement projects. Looking forward to seeing what Christmas craft posts you have coming. I love decorating for Christmas.
Thank you, because of the flu I’ve been really cautious when I go out. I definitely don’t want to get sick again. I love seeing the before and after when it comes to home improvement projects its just so amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do. Glad you’re looking forward to the craft projects I can’t wait to share them. I love decorating for Christmas too it brings a cheerful touch to the gloomy winter days.
