Lightsaber Wrist Rest

With it being the end of April and Star Wars Day is right around the corner, I thought I would share with you an easy Star Wars inspired craft project. This Lightsaber wrist rest is great for anyone who’s a fan of the franchise. And helps prevent injury while you’re working at your computer. I spend a lot of time on my computer, rather it writing blog posts, editing photos, or playing games on Steam. So, having a wrist rest for both my keyboard and mouse helps to alleviate the pressure across my carpel tunnel. They give my palms a comfortable resting spot that keeps my wrists elevated, and prevent reduced blood flow that can lead to that numb tingling feeling or long term injuries. So if you’re like me and spend a lot of time on your computer, and you’re a fan of the Star Wars franchise, then add some geeky flair to your desk. With this Star Wars inspired Lightsaber keyboard wrist rest.

What you’ll need

Instructions

  1. Measure the length of your keyboard and add an inch for the length of your wrist rest. Then use 4 inches for the width and cut two prices of fabric using the measurements you came up with. For example, the length of my keyboard is 16 inches, so for my palm support, I cut two pieces of fabric that were 17” by 4”.
  2. Next, sew the two pieces of fabric right wrong sides together leaving a small opening for turning. After that, turn your project inside out and fold the open end 3/4”, press, and fill with rice. The amount of rice you use will depend on the level of firmness you want.
  3. After you’ve filled your wrist rest, topstitch the open end closed. Then trace the pattern provided on to craft felt and cut out.
  4. Lastly, using your hot glue gun, glue the lightsaber pieced onto the base of your wrist rest and voila you have your very own Lightsaber wrist rest.
