Our daily habits can either help us grow or hold us back. They define our lifestyles and can alter our mindset for better or worse. For example, habits like staying up late, eating lots of junk, or constant procrastination. It can reduce our quality of work, or make you feel bad about yourself. Our habits can change our mindset. We can go from confident and ready to achieve our goals, to feeling unmotivated. So it’s important to change the habits that aren’t helping us grow, in order to cultivate a healthy mindset. Having habits that support our goals and values is one of the easiest ways to build a healthy mindset. Here are some daily habits that encourage a healthy state of mind, that you can incorporate into your daily routine.
Check-in with Yourself
Throughout the day check-in with yourself and ask yourself what you’re feeling. For example, are you feeling tired, sad, frustrated, overwhelmed, confused, or content. By bringing awareness to what’s going on in your head, you refocus and take the steps needed to get back on track. To help with remembering to check-in, set reminders on your phone, or block off parts of your schedule to check-in with yourself.
Plan out your days
Save yourself time by planning out your days the night before. So when you wake up in the morning you know what to work on and don’t waste any time. Set three goals for the day, to avoid getting overwhelmed with tasks. Then block out portions of your schedule to work on those tasks. Remember to be realistic with your schedule and stay away from making unachievable to-do lists. There are only so many hours in the day and you don’t have to fill every minute of the day. It’s okay to take breaks in between larger tasks or take time for self-care.
Set boundaries on Social Media
When it comes to social media, it can be both a good and a bad thing. It’s a place we go to for inspiration or to connect with others. Other times someone’s highly curated life makes our lives seem less fun and not as put together. There’s also the pressure of posting often to stay relevant. So when it comes to social media it’s important to set boundaries to avoid the negative impact. Instead of consuming content from others, focus on creating your own content. Don’t be afraid to mute accounts that don’t bring you joy or take breaks away from social media when needed so you can maintain a healthy mindset.
Set Goals and Review Them Often
Sometimes we set goals only to forget about them later. But by reviewing your goals, you remember what you’re working towards. And it motivates you to continue doing what’s important in reaching your goals.
Journaling
We can become overwhelmed with thoughts. They swirl around in our heads causing us to feel anxious or stressed. One way to combat that overwhelming feeling is with journaling. Open your journal to a blank page or pull out some blank sheet of paper, and get whatever is bothering you off your chest. If you’re short on time, you can always do a quick brain dump instead.
Don’t stay up too late
When your up ate scrolling through TikTok or watching episode after episode of your favorite show. You’re only setting yourself up to have an unproductive day and a poor mindset. So make it a habit to get to bed early so you can get plenty of sleep. That way you start each day feeling well-rested and ready to take on the day.
Eat Healthily
What we eat can affect the way we feel. And things like processed foods, sweets, and fried foods are okay in moderation. But too much can affect our gut health and the way we feel. So make sure you’re eating plenty of fruits and vegetables daily to help maintain your gut health.
Unhealthy habits get in the way of us having a healthy mindset. And when we don’t have a healthy mindset, it’s harder to stay focused on achieving our goals. So take a look at your daily habits and get rid of the ones that aren’t helping you move forward, and replace them with new healthy habits.

Pin me!
Staying up too late is huge for me. I find that because i work from home, I can sleep in more. I find I’m staying up way too late and it’s making me feel completely drained
When I was working from home I was doing the same, so my sleep schedule was really weird. But it’s better now that I’m not working from home.
These are really great tips and unfortunate I feel like I’m letting myself down because I can’t say yes that I’m doing all these lol!! 😭 I try not to stay up but somehow I always do. It’s gotten worse since covid19 started but it needs to change soon or else I don’t know how I’ll function when I have to work or go back to school again. Eating healthy is another problem and it always has been!! I have gotten better at journaling and trying to plan my day so I don’t tackle a lot at once. Thanks for sharing Angela!! ❤️
I think almost everyone’s sleep schedule was thrown off due to Covid19. It hit me hard when I returned to work. It’s good that you’ve gotten better at journaling and planning your day.
