There comes a time when we are either desperate or eager to start a new chapter in life. For some, it comes from being fed up with how life is going. For others, it comes from an eagerness to try new things and make life more meaningful and purposeful. Whatever the reasons or circumstances that have led you to come to this point of wanting a new chapter in life, Take a moment to say thank you to both the good and the bad times. The struggles you’ve faced as well as the hard times. All of what you’ve faced was the catalyst you needed to find yourself and think about how you want to live your life and a chance to start a new chapter.
But, before moving forward with change, There’s a question you must have a clear answer to. And that question is, “what does it mean to start a new chapter in life?” Life doesn’t come with instructions which makes it difficult to navigate. We often find ourselves stuck without knowing what direction to go in. When starting a new chapter it means you’re ready to write your own life story.
Many things have an impact on our lives. Such as our habits, our parents’ habits, circumstances, and our environment. We get caught up in a routine and robotically live our lives without our realization. But there’s more to life, When you decide to start a new chapter in life that means you’re ready to look into life with new eyes. In doing so, you look into yourself with new eyes and see the potential in yourself.
Taking the first step
Before taking the first step toward starting a new chapter. You’ll need to start where you are, by writing out what you want your new life to look like. Getting things out of your head on paper is the most powerful thing you can do for yourself. It makes you more committed and intentional about your life. A great way to do this is through journaling. After starting where you are and reflecting on your life. It’s time to move forward with the next steps of starting a new chapter in your life.
Let go of toxic traits and people
You can’t start a new chapter in life if you are carrying old baggage or toxic traits, people, and patterns. Recognize what toxic traits, people, and patterns are holding you back in life. Then take steps towards letting them go. This doesn’t mean you have to cut them off instantly. Try tackling it one at a time to keep manageable.
Declutter
If your life has been a mess, then your surroundings may be messy and filled with clutter. Physical clutter can play a role in mental clutter. If you want to start over with a fresh start then decluttering is essential. It’s time to get rid of the things you no longer need to make space for new and better things.
Be more Aware
There’s a reason you keep attracting toxic people and repeating the same toxic patterns. Only when we bring more awareness to our thoughts, feelings, and actions. We stop attracting negativity into our lives.
Return to Slowness
In the new chapter of your life, make sure that you’re living with intention and moving slowly. It’ll take time to return to slowness, especially in the fast-paced world we live in. Approach life with mindfulness and act with intention. It’ll help relieve stress and bring more to enjoyment to the things you do.
