Creativity is apart of our daily lives, and we use it in things like art and writing. One place you wouldn’t expect to use creativity is in video games. But, many video games utilize critical thinking skills and quick decision-making. Unfortunately, most people still don’t know that video games play a vital role in boosting creativity for kids and adults alike. So, I’ve compiled a list of video games that let you get creative. These games are not only fun but have unique gameplay and promote creativity. Some of the games allow you to create, while other games just have unique gameplay and plot that’ll make you think.

Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker lets your imaginations run wild. You’ll have fun playing through levels that you and others create. And, the Wii U GamePad controller makes it easy for anyone to get creative and create levels. Players can enjoy a seemingly endless supply of inventive Mario levels from players around the world.

Minecraft

Minecraft is an open-world game that has no specific goals for the player, allowing players a large amount of freedom in choosing how to play the game, however, there is an achievement system. The game world is a 3D grid composed of blocks where players can move freely, mine blocks, and place them elsewhere to build things.

Snipperclips

In this co-op, puzzle game players cut paper characters into new shapes using the games snipping mechanic. So, players will work together and solve shape and physics-based puzzles.

Gorogoa

Gorogoa is a beautiful hand-drawn game that tells a story using puzzles. The player is given four images set up in a grid. Then they’ll stack, combine, and explore each image to find a connection between them to advance. You are not given directions, so you’ll have to work out each puzzle on your own.

Inside

You’ll control an unnamed boy who is alone and being hunted by masked guards. As you make your way through a dystopian world to the center of a dark project. You’ll solve environmental puzzles all while trying to avoid getting caught as you make your way inside.
