I’m the person who can eat a whole basket of breadsticks before they bring my food out and, these easy vegan garlic breadsticks are no exception. Soft, buttery, warm, and easy to make. These breadsticks go great with pasta, soup, or with a side of marinara sauce. It’ll take roughly an hour from start to finish to bake a batch of these breadsticks and even less time to eat them all. Since the dough is very simple, play around with the seasoning and try adding different herbs and non-dairy cheese. So next time you have pasta, soup, or a craving for breadsticks give this recipe a try.

Easy Vegan Garlic Breadsticks
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup of warm water
- 1 package active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 cup non-dairy butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose seasoning (Spike or Mrs. Dash)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Combine flour, water, yeast, oil, sugar, salt, to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook (or large mixing bowl and hand-knead). Then knead for about 7 minutes, or until dough is soft, smooth, and has come together in a firm mass. If hand-kneading, you may need to knead a few minutes longer.
- Next, turn the dough out onto a silicone-lined, parchment-lined, or a greased standard-sized baking sheet. Then using a rolling pin, roll dough into a rectangle that covers about two-thirds of the baking sheet and is about an inch thick.
- Then score the dough with a pizza cutter. One long slice down the middle, and then make vertical slices, to create the breadsticks.
- After that cover the pan with a piece of plastic wrap and place it in a warm, draft-free place to rise about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350F.
- Meanwhile, make the garlic butter spread by combining non-dairy butter, all-purpose seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, basil, and paprika. Set aside until ready to spread.
- Before baking, cover the dough with about half of the garlic butter spread and save the remainder.
- Lastly, bake for about 20 minutes, or until slightly golden. They should be firm to the touch and be cooked all the way through. Then spread with remaining garlic butter and enjoy.
Notes
- Breadsticks are best served warm and fresh but, can be stored for up to 2 days in an airtight container.
- Before eating leftovers, microwave them for a few seconds to soften them up.

No problem for a pasta dish isn’t complete without a side of soft, warm, garlic bread. So I couldn’t post a recipe for a saucy lasagna and not include something to soak up the sauce. 😉
