5 Moving Tips to Ease the Stress of Moving

I’ve lived in 8 different states, so I’m no stranger to moving. It’s exciting to move into a new place, but let’s face it moving is stressful. There’s packing, organizing, and not to mention loading and loading. Moving is no easy task. I had to learn the hard way how to organize my moves.  To stay on track and keep my moves running smoothly. Now, I’ve got the process down, and I’m confident in my ability to organize a move with little stress. Rather it’s a local move or across the country, there are steps you can take to reduce the stress of moving. Here are some moving tips to help ease the stress of moving. As well as, a printable moving checklist to help you organize your move.

Plan plan plan!

Moving is stressful, and it’s even more stressful when you don’t have a plan. Take time to create a plan before you move. Think about what needs to be done and create a moving timeline.

Things to include in your plan:

  • When to contact utility companies
  • Packing schedule
  • Contact list
  • A list of things to sell or donate
  • A list of moving supplies

A Little at a time

Packing is a process, when possible take it a little at a time. Go room by room to keep yourself from becoming overwhelmed.

Declutter

Go through and declutter before you start packing. It’s less for you to pack and you’re not transporting stuff to get rid of later. When moving, the less the better. You don’t want to take on a heavy load and have more to worry about.

Use it up

Try to use up things that may spill, before you move to avoid a mess. As well as, food that requires refrigeration. If you’re making a long-distance move, it’s easier to use it up before the move and start fresh once you get to your new place.

Keep track

When you move it’s easy to lose track of paperwork. There’s a lot going on and it’s easy to mistake a pile of papers for trash. When moving keep important documents in a folder so you don’t lose track of them.
