Pomodoro Technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management technique created by developer Francesco Cirillo in the 80s. It encourages people to work with the time they have instead of against it. You work in 25-minute increments separated by 5-minute breaks called pomodoro. Start by selecting a task, then set a timer for 25-minutes. Work on the task for 25-minutes, then take a 5 minute break before moving on to the next task. After 4 pomodoros, take a longer break for about 15-20 minutes. With each task being timed it instills a sense of urgency. Rather than feeling that you have and endless amount of time to get things done. You make the most of the 25-minute period making as much progress as possible.

Start the day Early

Waking up early is a habit that can transform your productivity. No more rushed morning or sitting at your desk wondering where to start. Having morning routine that allows time to yourself to organize your thoughts and plan out task for the day. Will save you time thoughout the day. Waking up early gives you much more than extra, but prevents that rushed feeling that halts productivity. Instead you’re able to start your day with a moment of reflection or planning to get ahead of the game. By getting in the right mindset and setting your intentions for the day.

Eat your frog First

A great read on procrastination is Eat That Frog by Brian Tracy. The premise of eating your frog first is taking care of difficult task or strangely disliked task first thing in the morning. By doing this, all other task will be easy do. To put it simply, when you eat the wrong first thing in the morning, everything else will be easy when compared to eating a frog.

To find the best productivity system for you, it’s important to understand what you need in your routine to make the most out the time you have. Think about what has helped you be productive in the past.
