This past week Nintendo announced in their Nindies showcase what indie games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. They announced over 15 games during their live stream some that have been seen before along with some that haven’t. KC Game On

Being someone who is new to the Kansas City area I’m always searching for things to do in the area. During one of my searches, I came across KC Game On. It is a not for profit group that host bi-monthly gaming events. It started off small but has grown over the years to include Kansas City’s premier gaming event KC Game Con. They offer free general admission to get people in the door so that they learn more about esports and understand the gaming culture. This past Saturday I visited KC Game Con and saw how much they had to offer to the Midwest gaming community. The KC Game Con had a lot to offer its guest.

The month of October means a lot of things like pumpkin-flavored everything and comfy sweaters. But it means Halloween the best day for horror movies and video games. Playing a horror game is a lot different from watching a horror movie. Video games allow you to get right in on the action. So you feel like you’re the one running for your life through a dark forest.  So today why not try something different and play a horror game instead. Go ahead and spook yourself silly this Halloween with these spooktacular games.

Creativity is apart of our daily lives, and we use it in things like art and writing. One place you wouldn’t expect to use creativity is in video games. But, many video games utilize critical thinking skills and quick decision-making. Unfortunately, most people still don’t know that video games play a vital role in boosting creativity for kids and adults alike. So, I’ve compiled a list of video games that let you get creative. These games are not only fun but have unique gameplay and promote creativity. Some of the games allow you to create, while other games just have unique gameplay and plot that’ll make you think.

The early video games certainly didn’t have much in the way of storytelling involved. Also, most early video games had good and bad characters with an obvious goal. Such as saving the world from danger or rescuing a princess. The progression would show through what level you reached or the high scores. As technology started evolved game developers started to shift to creating compelling stories to keep players interested. Games like Myst mark a shift in the way game designers thought about players and their involvement in games.
