Day 1

Planet Comicon is the largest comic book and pop culture convention in the Kansas City area. It’s a Three Day event that features an array of comic books, gaming, fantasy, sci-fi, television, and film. It wasn’t easy getting everything together for the convention I ended up waiting until about a month out from the convention to buy my admission and by that time parking reservations for the parking garage were completely sold out. I was starting a new job and wasn’t sure if I would be able to get the days off I need to attend the convention.

Luckily I was able to get the time off. I also had a bit of trouble getting my cosplay together I ordered the materials online but because of the weather, it arrived later than expected. So I didn’t have as much time to build my cosplays. I managed to get everything put together after a few late nights. I had a lot of fun at the convention and I plan on attending the convention next year.

For the first day of the convention, I dressed up as Annie from League of Legends. I’m really pleased with how the costume turned out with what little time I had to work on it. My husband and I arrived about thirty minutes to the start of the convention. I’m glad we arrived early because it took us a little while to find parking and walk to the convention center.

Once we were at the convention center we made our way upstairs to the exhibit hall which showcased an array of different vendors, cosplayers, and creators. We walked around then had lunch. They didn’t really offer a variety of vegetarian options so I didn’t get a chance to eat much throughout the convention.

The Walking Dead Panel

Our first day of Planet Comicon consisted of panels, waiting, and walking around. The first panel we went to was The Walking Dead panel it featured Khary Payton and Sonequa Martin-Green. The actress Clare Kramer who is best known for her roles in Bring It On and Buffy The Vampire Slayer moderated the panel. Khary Payton is the voice of Cyborg on Teen Titans Go and is King Ezekiel on The Walking Dead series. Sonequa Martin-Green Played Sasha on The Walking Dead series and is now playing Michael Burnham on Star Trek: Discovery. They both talked about what it was like working on the set of Walking Dead and the audition process.

Micheal Rooker Panel

The next panel that we attended was Being An Anti-hero With Micheal Rooker. This panel was also moderated by Clare Kramer. During the panel, he primarily spoke about his roles on The Walking Dead and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and 2. He also spoke about how he prepared himself for his role in the film Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

Kevin Conroy & Alice Cooper

The Next Panel we attended was Legend Of The Dark Knight With Kevin Conroy. The panel was moderated by Jason Inman the co-host of DC All Access. He mainly spoke about being a voice actor for the Batman series. Along with the difference between doing a TV series and a Video Game. Our Last Panel of the day was When Pop Culture & Shock Rock Collide With Alice Cooper the panel was moderated by Clare Kramer. During the panel, they discussed how he got started in music and his upcoming role in “Jesus Christ Superstar Live!”. After the panel, we called it a day and made our way back home.
