June Wrap-Up

Just like May, June got off to a busy start. My little sister visited for a week and had a lot of fun. We went to a cat cafe and did cat yoga, went to VegFest, and saw Game Grumps Live. After she left, I was exhausted and took a break to get caught up on things and celebrated my 29th birthday.

Reflecting Motion

At the end of May, I went down to Union Station to Reflection Motion Food Truck Wednesday. I got lunch from the Mad Greek food truck and saw Reflecting Motion a kinetic sky sculpture created By internationally-celebrated Patrick Shearn of Poetic Kinetics. The sky sculpture reminded me of schools of fish in the ocean. I enjoyed watching the sky sculpture rise up and down with the wind. After that, I walked around the inside of union station and checked out the model trains they had on display before heading back home.

Cat Yoga, VegFest, & Game Grumps Live

June Wrap-Up 2For my birthday this year, I bought two VIP tickets for Game Grumps Live and invited my little sister to go with me. She was able to spend a week visiting since she was out of school for the summer. So I planned a lot of fun stuff for us to do together while she was in town.

Her visit started with a trip to Whiskers Cat Cafe, and we did cat yoga. All the cats were cute and sweet. Soon as you laid down your yoga mat one of the cats would wonder over and made themselves June Wrap-Up 3comfortable. After the cat cafe, we went to Shake Shack for lunch. It was my first time eating there, and I had their shroom burger. After that, we checked out a local store before going to Dounotology for National Donut Day. I didn’t get a donut, but I did get a baked cinnamon bun. It was huge, and it took me two days to finish it.

The next day we went to the River Market for Vegfest. Last year I went by myself, so it was nice having company. We ate lots of good food and got to pet a friendly pig names Elvis. After that, we walked over to Yoki a store full of cute Japanese and anime related goodies before heading home for the day. On Monday we went to my sister’s favorite restaurant Lulu’s Thai Noodle Shop before heading to the Game Grumps Live show. I had a lot of fun at the show and seeing both Danny, Arin, Vernon, and sharing that experience with my little sister was the highlight of my year.
Game Grumps Live

After seeing the Game Grumps my sister only had a couple of days left in town. So we spent it hanging out and we ended up filming a video for her youtube channel and I did her makeup. I don’t wear makeup and know very little about it so she put my skills to the test and I created a masterpiece. To see her vlogs of her time here and me doing her makeup check out her YouTube channel Makeupmonster21.

Birthday Fun

Mud Pie Vegan BakeryFor Birthday this year, I didn’t do much since it was on Tuesday. I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning, and my husband took me out for a little outing. We went to the Nelson-Atkins Muesuem of Art and walked around the sculpture garden. After that, we went to my favorite food truck inMatie's Vegan Eats Kansas City Mattie’s Vegan Eats. We ate vegan nachos in the park before heading over to the Mud Pie Vegan Bakery for drinks and sweets. I enjoyed my little outing with my husband and the time I spent with my sister before my birthday.

July Plans

For July I don’t have a lot of things played for the month. I’m going to finish putting together my travel plans for the late summer and fall. This year I won’t be going to The Lights Festival since I’ll be out of town. Instead, I’m going to the Water Lantern Festival. So I’m looking forward to that this month. Since the last couple of months have been busy, I’m going to take it easy this month and do some relaxing and planning before things start to pick up again. I’ll be taking a two-week staycation to recharge my batteries

How was your June? Did you do anything fun?
