September 2019 Wrap-up

September was a laid back chill month for me. After getting back from Dragon Con I have a lot of things to catch up on. After that, I started working on new cosplay builds for Youma Con and watched lots of anime. I did manage to get out of the house to enjoy the last bit of summer and go on a couple of nature walks. Toward the end of September, we got some rain and with that, it started to cool off. So, I enjoyed the cooler weather and started to get in the autumn mood. Even though September wasn’t an exciting month, it was nice to have a break from everything and relax. So here’s how my September went.

Youmacon Cosplay Builds

For Youmacon I’m working on two new cosplays and finishing up Isabelle from Animal Crossing. The new builds I’m working on are Inosuke for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Himiko Toga from My Hero Academia. Since this will be my last convention for the year. I wanted to do something that would allow me to get rid of what supplies I have left before replenishing my supplies.

Even though I only worked on my cosplays on the weekeends I was able to get a lot done. So far I’ve finished the base of my katanas and boar head for my Inosuke cosplay. And some of the parts for Toga’s bloodsucking machine. The boar is going to be my biggest challenge I’ve never made anything like this before and didn’t find much information online about how to make one. So, I’m just making it up as I go and hoping for the best. It’s been fun working on these projects because for Dragon Con I did only casual cosplays, and as much as I love sewing. Taking a break from it to something different has been nice.

River Market

After hiding away in my basement for a few weeks I decided that I needed to get out of the house. So I went down to the River Market to get out of the house and so some exploring. It was a cool overcast day, and a perfect day to enjoy a hot drink and people watch. When I got to the River Market my first stop was Bignet to beat the crowds. I decided to splurge and try their raspberry chocolate cheesecake beignet. It was delicious and nice to try something new. I usually get plain beignet, but I’m going to start branching out and trying different things from their menu.

After enjoying my beignet, I walked around the River Market and admired all fresh-cut flowers and produce. They’re always strange fruits and vegetables and I enjoy learning about them and how to prepare them.  I didn’t stay long because the crowds started to move in, and it makes it harder to get around the area. So, I headed home to do some work on my cosplays, but it was nice to get out for a couple of hours and eat something delicious.

October Plans

October is going to be a busy month for me. I’m going to Chicago for NSP’s 10th Anniversary Show and to Michigan for Youmacon and to visit my family. In the meanwhile, I still have to finish my cosplay builds in time for the convention. And I want to go to a pumpkin patch since I haven’t been to one since I was a kid. Even though it might seem like a lot I’m confident I’ll be able to get everything done long as I stay focused.
