CVW220 a Twitch Streamer Making a Positive Impact

Streaming on Twitch is more than sitting down and playing a video game while others watch. It’s about community and connecting with others with similar interests, and having a positive impact on someone’s day. Streamers strive to create a community for their viewers to feel comfortable to be themselves and share common interests. And CVW220 is a hard-working streamer who’s putting in the hard work to create something special for her viewers.

Despite the challenges of juggling both streaming and her personal life, she’s still managed to create a community where people feel accepted. And she’s even inspired others to start streaming. CVW220 is an example of the positive impact that streamers can have on others, and why community is important. Many people struggle with making friends and don’t have others to share their interests with. But there are streamers like CVW220 who know the feeling and have created a judgment-free space where shy or awkward people feel comfortable enough to open up and step outside their comfort zone. She’s an inspiration. Despite being shy and awkward herself, she still steps outside of her comfort zone to stream and is constantly striving to grow as a streamer.

I had the honor to ask CVW220 a few questions about her streaming career and the impact it has had on her life.

Who is CVW220?

CVW220 is a variety streamer on Twitch. Who streams Tuesday – Saturday 11 pm-3 am EDT. She enjoys playing horror games, action-adventure games, and shooters. She also plays indie games and enjoys hunting for trophies and achievements.

Her journey to streaming is one she never anticipated. She started streaming in January 2014 when Tomb Raider Definitive Edition was released on Playstation 4. Her introduction to Twitch was in 2013 by her boyfriend. He was watching StarCraft II tournaments. And in the same year, Sony announced that the PS4 would have an easy-to stream feature and she thought it’d be cool to do a tutorial stream for platinum trophies. Six years later, she’s still streaming on Twitch and has created a comfortable environment for people to feel safe and appreciated.

Throughout her six years of streaming, she’s faced a variety of challenges. One of the biggest ones until recently was not having a consistent schedule. Which slowed the growth of her channel. She’s also faced challenges with improving her content. She had to step outside of her comfort zone to teach herself new software programs, play popular games that she wouldn’t usually play, and networking. Despite these challenges, streaming is still something that brings joy to her life.

When people visit her stream, she wants them to feel like they have a supportive friend. And build a strong community that helps others grow as streamers and as individuals. She’s recently started a bi-monthly small streamer podcast series called Stremcast. Where small streamers talk about Twitch topics. So streamers can connect, learn, and grow.

The Impact of Streaming

Streaming has always brought her joy. Throughout her life, she’s struggled with maintaining friendships. But through streaming, she’s found people who accept her and share common interests. And it’s something she’ll always cherish. Streaming has made her feel loved, appreciated, and confident. Despite being shy and awkward through streaming, she’s found a place where she feels comfortable being herself without fear of judgment and has created sincere friendships that’ll last a lifetime.

“I am supported no matter what game I play, people are there for me. Many of my viewers have told me that I make them happy or that I’ve inspired them to stream.”

Even though streaming has had a positive impact on her life. There are times when she gets down when she sees her average view count drop, slow growth, or when she compares herself to other streamers. Whenever she feels down, she takes time to replace those negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Because she’s truly happy with what she’s accomplished and is always striving to improve. And as long as streaming brings her joy, that’s all that matters.

What drives her to stream?

Even though streaming has its ups and downs, it’s something CVW220 that makes her happy, and she’ll always be passionate about it.

It makes me feel good to achieve gaming goals and having people cheer me on. It feels good to be socially comfortable and not feel awkward or judged. There were times I took months off from streaming, and people would encourage me to come back. I have never felt bored or lonely since I’ve started streaming. The community keeps me coming back.

Lessons Learned Through Streaming

Streaming has taught CVW220 many things. Through streaming, she’s learned there are many kinds of people out there, and kindness is everything. That you can change a person’s whole day around being kind. It’s also taught her, to not let people walk all over her, and to not let anyone stop you from enjoying things. That it’s important to make time for the things you’re passionate about for your mental health. And most of all, it’s taught her to believe in herself.

Dealing with Trolls

“They eventually get bored and go away. Never give their words any power.”

When it comes to being a streamer, you run into trolls. It’s a part of being online. And in CVW220 6 years of streaming on Twitch, she’s faced a lot of trolls and toxic people. Through experience, she’s learned that most trolls only want a reaction. And has found the most effective way to handle trolls is to ignore them, ban them, block them, or mute them.
