May Wrap-Up

Hello June and goodbye May!

May started off busy. My little sister came to visit and we hung out and went to a hip hop music festival together. After that, my father in law was in town for my husband’s graduation. So my May got off to a fun but busy start. Once I was done with people visiting I worked on some cosplay projects. I didn’t do much reading in May, but I did start a new anime series.

First Friday, Free Comic Book Day, and Flyover KC

Last year I was supposed to go to Flyover a hip hop music festival with my sister, but the concert ended getting canceled. I was only a little upset since I still had the NSP concert to look forward to. So when I saw that they announced this year’s Flyover lineup, I texted my sister to see if would be interested in giving it another shot. She said yes since she would be done with the semester. Since it would be a first for me, I was excited about trying something new with my sister. I’ve never been to a hip hop concert, it’s a genre of music that I’m new to. In high school, I listened to a lot of screamo, alternative, rock, and punk. So I’ve been to rock concerts and music festivals like Warped Tour.

She flew in on a Friday so I took her downtown to try some of the food trucks at first Friday. We got there earlier just in case it rained and she sampled different trucks. While I just stuck to my favorites. After that, we headed back home and played a board game before heading to bed. The next day we work up earlier and went to a local comic book store for free comic book day. I bought a few new comic book series and grabbed a few of the free ones to check out. Then we stopped to grab some lunch before heading home to get ready for the concert.

The concert was fun and very different from what I’m used to. There was no bands just DJs and no mosh pits. Overall we had a good time discovered some new artist and saw both 21 Savage and Cardi B.

Cosplay Progress

After my father in law left I needed a break. I’m an introvert so being around people for long periods of time can be draining. So to recharge my batteries I spent the last half of the month working on cosplays. As I mentioned in my Vogue Parody: 73 Questions with Weird Louise I’m working on a Pocahontas cosplay as well as some others. It was relaxing working on them and listening to podcasts. I managed to get a lot done and it looks like I’ll have some of them ready for my June photoshoot. In between working on cosplays, I started a new anime series.

Overlord was mentioned to me by Zamaie, an awesome blogger who runs Zamaie Writes. After watching a couple of episodes I was hooked and have been watching a few episodes a week. I like the characters and the overall story and I’m curious to see where the story will go. There are currently 3 seasons on Hulu so I’ve got something to watch for a while. I was watching Fairy Gone but it currently airing so I have to wait for new episodes. So it’s nice to have something to binge watch in between waiting.

June Plans

Even though May got off to a busy start I had a lot of fun hanging with my sister. And I’m glad I was able to recharge my batteries and work on cosplays. I feel well rested and ready to take on June, which will be another busy month. My sister is coming to visit, VegFest, Game Grumps Lives, and my birthday this month. So I have a lot to look forward to in June.

How was your May? Do you have anything fun planned this month?
