October 2019

October was busy, but a very fun month. I finished both of my cosplays in time for Youma Con and had a great time on my solo trip to Chicago. And, surprisingly I was able to visit a pumpkin patch and try a pumpkin spice latte for the first time. I even got to see a musical I’ve been wanting to see for a while. Overall I’m happy with how October went. I went into last month unsure if I was going to be able to get everything done. But I worked hard, focused, and got everything done so I could enjoy some downtime last month. So, here’s what I did in October and what I have planned for November.

Dear Evan Hansen

One thing I tried and failed at was getting to tickets to Hamilton while it was in Kansas City. At first, I was disappointed but then excited that Dear Evan Hansen would be coming to Kansas City. And unlike Hamilton, there was a good chance I would able to get tickets for it. After all, the season ticket holders got their tickets they still had a lot leftover and I was able to get tickets for one of the performances.

This was my first time seeing a musical in Kansas City. In Tennessee, I would go to a see a musical or play at least once a month at Tennesse Performing Arts Center (TPAC). But since moving to Kansas City I’ve had a hard time getting tickets to shows. They’re usually sold out or ridiculously expensive. So, I was excited to get the chance to see a musical. When I got to the venue I had trouble finding my seat so I asked a user for help. I found out my seat was suppose blocked off for the mixing station. Since the show was about to start and the show was sold out. They seated me in the back of the middle orchestra section. I didn’t mind it, I just wanted to able to see the show while it was in town.

During the intermission, the manager apologized for the mix-up and gave me a playbill signed by the cast. Which I wasn’t expecting, but happy that they went the extra mile to make things better.

October Recap-DEH

Dear Evan Hansen follows the story of Evan Hansen a high school student with social anxiety and is struggling to make friends and fit in. He wants to connect with others, but his anxiety keeps getting in the way. His therapist suggests he writes letters to himself, and one of his letters is found by another school outcast, Connor Murphy. Later Evan finds out that Conner has committed suicide. Conner’s parents find the letter that Evan had written to himself, and he tries to tell them the truth. Then things spiral out of control as Evan becomes a social media sensation.

This is a musical I’ve wanted to see since I first heard the soundtrack. I can relate to the main character and feeling like no one would miss you if you disappeared. Because that’s how I felt throughout high school, and even sometimes now. I like that message of this musical is that you are not alone, and all you have to do is reach out and ask for help. If Dear Evan Hansen is coming to your area I would highly suggest you check it out. Or even listen to the soundtrack or read the book. Get your tissues ready because you’re going to need them.

Carolyn’s Country Cousins Pumpkin PatchOctober Recap-Pumpkin Patch

One thing I wanted to do in October was to visit a pumpkin patch. But, knew I might not be able to because I had a lot going on. So before and after my trip to Chicago I worked hard on both of my new cosplay builds for Youma Con. And since I finished them a week ahead of time, and did a photoshoot for them both. You can find the finished products on my new cosplay portfolio page. I’ll be posting all my new cosplays there as well as Instagram. Since I had some downtime before I need to start packing for Youma Con. I decided that I can take a day off and visit one of the local pumpkin patches.

After some research online, I picked Carolyn’s Country Cousins Pumpkin Patch since it was the highest-rated. They also have pumpkin donuts, and low key I wasn’t interested in picking out a pumpkin just eating donuts.October Recap-Pumpkin Patch

When I first got to the pumpkin patch I walked around to see what they had to offer. They had a petting zone, a corny carrel which is like a ball pit but with corn, and what everyone came for (well except me) pumpkins. As well as a train, carousel, and lots of things for kids to do. I feed some of the goats in the petting zoo. There was a little brown one that I thought was the cutest, and I wanted to take him home and spoil him.

Before leaving I bought a half dozen of their pumpkin donuts. Since it was the main reason for visiting. Then I decided to stop at Starbucks so I could wash down the donuts and try my first ever pumpkin spice latte. During the fall my go-to drink is a chai tea latte. I’m not a huge fan of coffee and prefer tea over it. The pumpkin spice latte was pretty good, and I could see myself ordering it again.

Overall I had a good time at the pumpkin patch and could see myself going back next year. I’m also glad I was able to take a break from everything and do something fun (and eat more donuts).

November Plans

Personal Plans

Since I’ve been busy the last few months traveling and working on cosplay projects. I’m going to take a break from projects and traveling until the end of the year. So November and December are going to be a lot of sweatpants, TV time, and reading. I’ve applied for press passes for a couple of conventions next year, but until I hear something back. I’m going to be starting any new cosplay builds anytime soon. But, I will be doing some small craft projects for fun.

Blogging Plans

As far as blogging I have all my content planned out until the end of the year. So, I’m going to focus more on what my goals will be for next year for blogging. I’ve achieved most of my goals this year. So, I’m looking forward to the new year and setting new goals to challenge myself. I’m also working on some video game themed craft projects for Christmas. That I can’t wait to share. So stay tuned for that and some Thanksgiving-themed content for November.

How was your October? Did you do anything fun?
